However, in present day, comics have grown to be a worldwide sensation, with several superhero movies topping lists for the best selling movies of all time. In the 70 or so years that comics as we know them have existed, time and human history have consistently altered the genre. The tone of a comic will differ depending on the decade it was written in. With superheroes being as inescapable as they are, we have to ask ourselves: How large of an impact have comics had on our society?
