DC welcomes international agents to discover Durham Region Posted on July 14, 2026 at 10:52 am. This spring, Durham College (DC), Trent University and Ontario Tech University welcomed 20 education agents from around the world to discover why Durham Region is a great place for international students to live and learn. After exploring the campuses of three post-secondary institutions, the visitors got a feel for the local community with a visit to the Oshawa Spring Art Festival and a shopping trip to the Oshawa Centre. “Visits like these give agents the opportunity to see that the region offers more than just education, so they can help students envision a future in the area after graduation,” said Mikhaila Tutte, Assistant Manager, International Recruitment. “When agents experience the campus and its amenities firsthand, they are better equipped to represent DC accurately and communicate the student experience with authenticity. Knowing that agents have been there themselves also provides students and their families with a sense of comfort and confidence when considering studying in a new country.” With so much exciting and innovative work taking place across local institutions and the broader community, including the region’s recognition as an Intelligent Community of the Year in 2025, the Durham Region continues to reinforce its reputation as a forward-thinking and attractive destination for international students. That made an impression on Harriet Ofosu, an agent from Ghana. “I think the Durham Region is a great fit for international students. It offers a small, close-knit community where students can really feel a sense of belonging because of the strong connections between staff and students,” said Ofosu. “I’ve also heard there are many great job opportunities for international students, including access to internships and work placements. The facilities are modern, the programs are strong, and overall, I would confidently recommend Durham College to any international student looking to study abroad in Canada.” By playing host to agents from all global regions, DC continues to work towards the goals laid out in its 2030 Strategic Vision by deepening relationships with Ontario Tech University and other partners, as well as cementing a reputation as a global leader in post-secondary education.
