DC welcomes Andre De Freitas as associate-vice president and registrar, Student Affairs

Durham College (DC) is pleased to welcome Andre De Freitas as the college’s new associate-vice president and registrar, Student Affairs, effective Tuesday, September 3.

Andre brings with him over ten years of experience in post-secondary education and has most recently held the position of director, Financial Aid & Awards at OCAD University. His experience spans both the college and university sectors and includes work with recruitment and retention strategies, research initiatives and student-related system planning and integration.

A lifelong learner, Andre holds a Master of Education from Nipissing University’s Schulich School of Education, a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Guelph-Humber and diplomas in Business Administration and International Business Administration from Humber and Seneca colleges respectively. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Education Online Studies through Western University.

Andre is co-chair of the Ontario Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, is currently a member of the Ontario Human Rights Commission Working Group and was the 2017 recipient of the OCAD University BLG Diversity and Equity Award.

An experienced administrator, Andre has the demonstrated ability to link institutional strategic plans to the delivery of desired outcomes by developing innovative programs and services designed to support recruitment, retention and success initiatives.
