Durham College to open new employment resource centre

New location will provide variety of career services to residents in Bowmanville and surrounding areas

BOWMANVILLE, Ont. – Members of the media are invited to join Durham College President Don Lovisa, Durham MPP John O’Toole and Louise Harding, manager, Employment Ontario, Durham at the grand opening of the new Bowmanville Community Employment Resource Centre on Tuesday, April 26.

Durham College staff will also be on hand to celebrate the opening of the new centre, funded by Employment Ontario and administered by Durham College, located at 219 King Street, Unit 4, which will offer a variety of free services to community members and job seekers living in Bowmanville; Orono; Newcastle; Clarington; and surrounding areas.

The Community Employment Resource Centre provides workshops on career exploration and planning; résumé, cover letter and interview techniques; Second Career program information; skills development; introduction to computers; and more. Since officially opening in January, the location has served approximately 400 clients per month.
