Sports Camps a Slam-Dunk for Kids

Summer vacation is right around the corner and what better way for a kid or teen to spend the care-free days of summer than at a sports camp at Durham College.

With over 25 years of experience and three-time winner of the Durham Parent Reader’s Choice award for sports camps in Durham Region, Durham College Sports Camps will kickoff yet another year of summer fun for kids and teens ages seven to 18 on Monday, July 9.

Durham College Sports Camps offer a variety of sport-specific programs as well as a multi-sport program for campers who want a little bit of everything. Programs range from soccer to baseball, volleyball, basketball and badminton. All of which are held in state-of-the-art facilities, led by our very own varsity athletes, graduates and students of the Sport Business Management program. To ensure each and every child has a fun and memorable experience, there is one coach for every 10 campers.

“When summer sports camps first started at the college we had about 60 to 100 kids,” said athletic co-ordinator Mike Duggan. “Today we have anywhere from 500 to 600 kids in attendance. With that said, our summer sports program has been one of the top two-rated summer camp programs in Durham Region over the last couple of years, which tells us we have the right coaches and instructors to teach kids the sport they are most interested in.”

Meal plans and extended care are available to all campers for an additional cost. Campers will receive a free T-shirt and certificate as well as have the chance to win great prizes throughout the week.

“With the high volume of campers each year it is necessary to keep everybody well-fuelled with nutritious and fun meals,” said Duggan. “With the meal plan offerings, getting ready for camp in the morning has one less step.”

The weekly camps will run the weeks of July 9 through August 17. For more information or to register, please visit
