New Chair and Vice Chair of Board of Governors

Durham College’s Board of Governors has welcomed a new chair, Franklin Wu, and vice-chair, Ron Chatterton. 

Wu, a career civil servant with more than 35 years experience, currently serves as chief administrative officer of the Municipality of Clarington, overseeing municipal operations, and collaborating with department heads and senior staff to ensure successful service delivery for the public. 

As chair he will assist the president in securing strategic partnerships and college funding essential to its operation and advancement, support and advise the president, promote teamwork among board members, preside over executive and board meetings and communicate board-stated positions and decisions.

Chatterton is a nuclear consultant with his company, Niche Advantage Consulting Ltd. Previously he was an operations manager with Atomic Energy of Canada LTD., supporting the development of their new reactor designs.

As vice-chair he will assist Wu in his role and share the responsibilities of standing committee meetings and special events.

Durham College’s Board of Governors, comprised of 12 external community representatives, four internal representatives and the president, are the legal governing body of the college. They are responsible for setting the college’s vision, strategic direction and overall goals; approving the college’s annual business plan, budget, and annual report; hiring the president; and regularly assessing the attainment of goals and outcomes.
