Kara Woods receives CMU-OCASA Research Award

For the second consecutive year, a Durham College administrator has been named recipient of a prestigious provincial award for advanced studies.

Kara Woods, Human Resources assistant, vice-president, Human Resources will receive the fourth annual CMU-OCASA Research Award for her capstone research paper entitled Faculty Perceptions Of Major Group Work Assignments – a study of faculty perceptions of group work in the classroom.

The award is given jointly by Central Michigan University (CMU) and the Ontario College Administrative Staff Association (OCASA) to recognize the high quality of research being conducted in Ontario by CMU graduate students.

Kara wrote the paper as part of her studies for her Master of Arts in Education degree specializing in community colleges at CMU where she was a member of a cohort from Durham College and Loyalist College. Kara completed her Master of Arts in Education in 2011.

She will receive the award at the seventh annual OCASA Leaders and Innovators Conference on Monday, June 25, at Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood.

The research award was presented to Michelle Cole, executive assistant to the vice-president, Student Affairs in 2011.
