Durham College to host first-ever Research Day on campus

Student and faculty researchers to present applied research initiatives underway at college

March 28, 2011

OSHAWA, Ont. – Student and faculty researchers from Durham College will present their research projects related to the environment, energy conservation, solar power, renewable energy, digital media and more on Thursday, March 31 when the college hosts its first-ever Research Day at the Oshawa campus.

Several researchers will share their innovative findings in the form of presentations and displays that provide a first-hand look at the applied research currently taking place on campus.

The college has been aggressively pursuing research partnerships with local small- and medium-sized businesses since its Office of Research Services and Innovation opened in 2009. The office has since been recognized for its growing research agenda by government funding agencies such as the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

A key component of the college’s strategic and business plans, the Office of Research Services and Innovation is designed to support applied research projects and collaborations that facilitate commercialization, technology transfer and the adoption of new technologies.
