Nalini Kumar-Williams

Business Administration – Human Resources, Class of 2025

In 2025, Nalini Kumar-Williams was recognized as highest-ranking graduate in the Business Administration – Human Resources program. But, Nalini’s time at Durham College (DC) was about more than academic achievement, “I came to DC wanting to build a career, but I left with so much more than a credential. I gained confidence, meaningful relationships and a better understanding of the kind of professional, and person, I wanted to become.”

Nalini’s co-op experience was a turning point in her education, allowing her to apply what she had learned to the workplace, gain valuable experience, and form connections with professionals who would later become an important part of her career journey. During her final semester, she began her HR career with the Regional Municipality of Durham. Today, she continues to work in Talent Acquisition at the Region, supporting high-volume recruitment in a unionized environment.

Nalini gives forward to the next generation as a member of a Program Advisory Committee and the Alumni Mentorship Program. Her advice to future graduates is to embrace every opportunity to learn, get involved, and build meaningful relationships. “The experience you gain and the people you meet can open doors you never expected.”
