The study of both the Permanent and Primary dentition involves examining their physical traits, functions, anchorage, and interconnections, both as a whole and individually. It emphasizes understanding oral anatomical features, the correlation between bone structure and function, the characteristics of oral soft tissues, the periodontium, tooth shape and function, as well as occlusion. Identifying oral anatomy and the supporting structures of teeth aids in developing the learners' foundational understanding of normal and abnormal conditions in the oral cavity, particularly in relation to orofacial structures.
