This course introduces the student to the fundamentals of the dental hygiene process of care through theoretical and introductory clinical skills. Concepts studied include infection control principles, principles of ergonomics, health and safety, assessment, instrumentation, and response to basic medical emergencies. Students will have the opportunity to practice dental hygiene skills in the clinical setting related to the concepts and principles introduced in theory.
