Surveying Principles

In this first surveying course, students will be introduced to fundamental concepts of surveying. They will learn basic principles of field surveying and surveying terminology and operation of basic equipment. They will use levels to measure differences in elevation, steel tapes and total stations to measure distances and angles. Various survey methods and their applications will be covered, as well as relevant calculations on the field data and the recording of notes. Proper care of the equipment and safety awareness will be emphasized throughout the course.
