Introduction to Biotechnology (BIOT 1131) will provide a comprehensive overview of the field of biotechnology. The basic theory and techniques of cell and molecular biology, as they apply to a broad range of biotechnology processes and products in the pharmaceutical, health and food industries, will be examined. The course will also survey the continuously evolving scientific, ethical, and social issues surrounding biotechnology.
