This course introduces a broad spectrum of image-making processes and developments in technology that set the path for current photo/video practices. Imagemakers in the 21st Century work within a historical perspective. Students examine the technical and aesthetic development of these disciplines and their impact on contemporary image creation. Because images influence every aspect of our daily lives, it is important to become aware of how image-makers engage their audiences, and how images often support political agendas (consciously or unconsciously). Practical experiences give students opportunities to hone technical skills, and deepen their understanding of the variety of perspectives that influence imaging.
