This course will focus on Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) from various perspectives such as methods of controlling access to: intermediary devices, network and production servers, virtual servers, servers located in a Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), and VPN access. AAA is the cornerstone for securing any network system. Usernames, passwords, access rights, logging, and auditing are fundamental security components used by all network system administrators. Failures in any of these components may leave systems open to vulnerabilities or accidental misuse. Learners will determine the necessary AAA components for any system and setup and configure those components. This course will build on the learning that took place in the Information Security, Network Systems & Components, and O/S Security courses in first semester.
