In this course, students will explore the fundamentals of animal nutrition. Beginning with an overview of how the gastrointestinal system digests and absorbs food, students will learn how food corelates with body health in various species of animals. By evaluating the significance of nutrients and non-nutrient additives, students will learn how to select diets that promote overall health. An assessment of popular commercial, homemade, fad, and raw diets will be conducted. Students will also be introduced to therapeutic diets that can play a role in the medical treatment or management of certain diseases
