This course is an introduction to topics such as basic physical principles pertaining to fluid velocities and the relationship between force, pressure, and areas. Schematic diagrams, hydraulic symbols, pumps, actuators, valves, fluid conductors, and all related control functions will be covered. Students will learn analytical techniques pertaining to the design of various hydraulic structures such as sewers, water distribution systems and open channels. Hydrology for hydraulic design will also be introduced.
