Introduction to Cybercrime

Cybercrime is an emerging area of law enforcement that has, in a very short time, become one of the most pressing public safety concerns of the 21st century. Cybercrime is complex in that it blurs the lines of jurisdiction, victimization, and evidence. This course introduces learners to a high-level overview of the fascinating and dynamic world of digital crime. Course highlights include how computers have been used to perpetrate crime in the past and how they will be used in the future, the history and current legislation relating to cyber crimes – both nationally and globally, profiling cyber criminals and victims, prevalent crime types involving the use of computers and the internet, and strategies to prevent and respond to cyber crime.
