This practicum provides students with their initial experience working in an assisting capacity with a qualified Speech-language Pathologist and/or Audiologist. Students integrate and apply the theories, concepts and communication intervention strategies examined and explored in all preceding courses in Semester I and 2. A series of behavioral competencies provides a guideline to facilitate the understanding of students' learning objectives during their first placement. In co-operation with the field placement agency, Durham College provides support in practicum monitoring and evaluation guidelines.
