Ideas and Images for Art and Design

Is a picture "worth a thousand words?" What does that mean in context to a world that is saturated with pictures—pictures made up of any and all combination of traditional and digital mediums and that may be considered art? What ideas do such images convey, especially if coupled with typography and audio expertly crafted as persuasive print layouts or animated and augmented as a part of film, gaming or Web based media?
