This course introduces students to a wide variety of topics and perspectives that are fundamental to the field of developmental disabilities. Students will acquire a working knowledge of the philosophies, changing attitudes, legislation and history of the movements. The role of advocacy and core values of inclusive community, person-directed support that facilitates participation and empowerment of persons with diverse abilities will be included.
