Applied Behaviour Analysis: Concepts and Principles

This course will orient students to the concepts, processes, and scientific principles of behavior on which the field of behaviour analysis was founded. Topics of study include the history of the experimental analysis of behaviour and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) as well as the role of basic principles in producing socially meaningful behaviour change. Students will use the dimensions of ABA to evaluate interventions and describe behaviour. Students will compare the theoretical foundations and clinical implications of operant and respondent conditioning. Students will distinguish between the principles, processes and concepts that define ABA and how ABA can be applied to issues of social relevance.
