This course will build on previous theoretical knowledge and practical skills gained in Introduction to Dental Materials completed in semester one. Various dental materials used in the prevention, restoration and replacement of hard and soft tissues and how they impact Dental Hygiene care, will be introduced through lecture, practical demonstration and manipulation. The student will explore various types of fixed and removable prosthesis and their implications to Dental Hygiene care. Students will protect the environment by responsible use of consumables and disposal of waste products including bio-hazardous wastes.
