Students will understand medical terminology including the ability to read, pronounce, spell, and comprehend medical terms. This is an essential skill for all health care administrators working with patient records and correspondences, and while interacting with patients and various health care professionals. Students will practice elements of medical terms including word roots, combining forms, suffixes, prefixes, and abbreviations. Major areas of study include human anatomy and physiology, pathology, pharmacology, as well as diagnostic, surgical, and therapeutic procedures. Anatomical systems covered include integumentary, special senses, digestive, urinary, and reproductive (male and female).
