This course focuses on two main areas, steel structures and wood structures. In the first part students are exposed to the practical steel structures, properties and designs. Students design steel structures by following the Canadian steel structural code- Canadian Standards Association, (CSA) S16-09. In the second part, students learn various design engineered wood structures that conform to the CSA-O86-14 code. Other topics, including safety considerations in fabricating and erecting structures will be discussed.
