This course will introduce and examine basic computer terminology, computer skills required for law enforcement personnel and introduce the student to the world of cybercrime. Through digital literacy the student will learn about various topics such as computer terminology, gain an understanding of hardware, software, and data as well as a brief history of the internet. The introduction of cybercrime will connect the newly learned computer literacy and the world of crime that lives within it. The learner will be introduced to a high-level overview of the fascinating and dynamic world of digital crime. Highlights include how computers have been used to perpetrate crime in the past and how they will be used in the future, prevalent crime types involving the use of computers and the internet, and strategies to prevent and respond to cybercrime.
