This course provides a historical overview of youth and the law and includes a detailed examination of the Young Offenders Act (1982) and the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Students learn about jurisdictional issues, court procedures, dispositions and alternative measures. As well, students examine issues such as community services and treatment facilities, and review the Child, Youth and Family Services Act.
