Police officers function daily in an environment of laws and regulations, and must react to the changing political and administrative practices at all levels of government. This course provides students with information about the mechanics of how government institutions, including agencies like police services, operate. Students will examine public sector management practices, including the development, implementation and evaluation of public policy, and law-making. The course will also address foundational concepts in political science, including the Constitution, Indigenous Peoples, political parties and party ideologies.
