Mental Health Fundamentals

In this course, students will examine current and historical contexts for mental health in Canada and as it applies to emergency first responders. We will explore a variety of mental health disorders and examine therapeutic strategies regarding: recognition, intervention and recovery. To further enhance these strategies, students will have the opportunity to become certified in Mental Health First Aid through the Mental Health Commission of Canada. This certification will provide the groundwork for supporting individuals experiencing a decline in their mental well-being.
