This course introduces the history and practice of photographing people and places in situations where there is little control over the events being photographed. This course is designed to introduce students to the skills and problem solving techniques required in the creative solution of commercial photographic assignments shot on location. Emphasis will be placed on demonstrations and field trips covering photography of people, products and architecture in a variety of locations and shot under diverse circumstances (e.g. time of day, weather). Students will also study documentary and corporate photography, working with subjects and/or clients to select the most appropriate locations and situations for interesting and creative photography. Students will adhere to professional journalistic standards.
