Have you ever wondered how aircraft deal with crosswinds or how video game graphics are created? Do you want to discover hidden patterns, develop unbreakable codes, and put the odds in your favour? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this course is for you! Over the next fourteen weeks, we will take a deep dive into the mathematics behind situations we experience in everyday life. We will begin by looking at all properties of vectors and how we can use vectors to translate navigation and force problems into mathematical equations. We will also learn how to calculate the dot and cross product of vectors and use this information to determine the types of intersections of lines and planes. Secondly, we will expand our vector knowledge to the matrix, which is a group of vectors. We will spend a few weeks manipulating matrices to solve linear systems using Gaussian/Gauss-Jordan Elimination, inverse matrices, and determinants. Our final unit is about counting numbers, which is more than meets the eye. We will analyze arithmetic and geometric patterns using sequences and series, count the total number of arrangements of items using permutations and combinations, and calculate the probability of events. Upon successful completion of this course, you will never be able to look at the world the same way again!
