This course builds on the first long term care practicum experience. The student returns to interact in a long term care setting, under the guidance and supervision of a preceptor, with residents, family, and the health care team. In a work environment, students apply the theories, principles, and concepts learned throughout the program to providing resident-centered/resident-directed care. The goals are to transfer the knowledge, and skills learned, as well, apply critical thinking to provide safe, compassionate care for residents with defined health care needs while incorporating a restorative care approach to increase quality of life for the resident.
