Adolescent and Young Adulthood

This course builds upon the study of developmental processes and milestones in childhood and continues the chronological progression begun in Child Development PSYC 1608. Growth and development in the physical, cognitive, and social domains will be explored in the adolescent and young adult. Adolescence is a time of significant change and for resilient young people, these challenges are mastered successfully. However, for some young people, these tasks can result in significant behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties. The most common difficulties will be researched focusing on specific behaviours, protective factors, relational practices as well as community supports.
