This unified communications course provides an introduction to converged voice and data networks and addresses the challenges faced by its various technologies. In this course, students will learn about and use various vendors' unified communications systems, their components, functionality, features and protocols as well as how to interconnect them. Topics will also include what affects call quality and how to control it, as well as troubleshooting and securing systems. IP Telephony is one of the most requested new technologies within the IT industry today. To meet this demand, networking engineers will need to know the basic requirements to setup and configure a Voice over IP (VoIP) system to a state of usability in a Small Office Home Office (SOHO) environment.
