Geotechnical Design

Soil testing is an important procedure usually conducted by a geotechnical technologist in order to determine the workability of the soil that is to be located beneath a structure. In this course students design and analyze shallow and deep foundations for support of structures, and select foundation types based on soil conditions. Students will learn various types of soil tests and methods of foundation inspection before, during and after the construction phase.
