Students explore concepts and methods of biochemistry related to amino acids, proteins, and enzymes. An emphasis is placed on the components and structures of proteins, the functions of enzymes, and the roles of metabolic pathways. Students explain biochemical concepts. Students also employ biochemical methodologies to purify, measure, protect, and analyze biological compounds, and use biochemical methodologies to investigate enzyme regulation and enzyme kinetics.
