This course builds upon the general principles of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) introduced in Behavioural Support I. This course will focus on supporting people who use challenging behaviour. Students will learn about behavioural assessment methods and explore the importance of understanding the communicative function of challenging behaviours. Emphasis will be placed on learning how to teach augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and self-management and or emotional self-regulation skills that will minimize or eliminate the need for people to use challenging behaviours to have their needs met.
