The Advanced Professional Practice course permits students to study in-depth an area of Child and Youth Care that is of interest to them. A primary focus of this course is its emphasis on special topics in child and youth care to ensure the development of knowledge in a specific area of practice and/or research. Students engage in research an independent study in specific areas of interest in their chosen field of study and will be expected to translate their major learning(s) into practice. Students will be asked to do a range of directed study activities including doing self- selected independent readings, examining evidence based research, developing an annotated bibliography on their readings, completing a research proposal on their chosen subject.
