Ethical Practice

This course will assist students conceptual understanding of the ethical issues, and basis for actions taken, in the profession of Child and Youth Care. Through a process of self-reflection and participation in various case scenarios, students will utilize a framework for ethical decision making that takes into consideration the professions Code of Ethics as well as the student's value systems, behaviours and personal qualities. This will facilitate students in developing an ethical stance in how they incorporate the values of the profession into their daily actions when working with young people and families from diverse backgrounds as well as community members, colleagues, and other disciplines.
