In this course, students explore foundational theories in organizational behaviour and use human resource strategies related to the construction industry in real-world applications. Students use research skills to explore labour relations, health and safety, and historically relevant construction methods. Students are introduced to the foundational principles of strong leadership and team management by examining effective strategies for hiring, motivating, managing, and retaining staff. In the course, students discuss the strategic importance of Human Resources and the role of HRM; competitive challenges facing Human Resources; job analysis and design; Human Resources planning; recruitment and selection; health and safety; and employee rights and discipline.
