This course builds and expands the Dental Hygiene students' foundational knowledge and experience from previous semesters and incorporates more advanced skills and Dental Hygiene services. Topics covered include: medical history data interpretation, delivery of client specific oral hygiene instruction, pain control applications, ultrasonic and advanced instrumentation techniques, assessment of ergonomics in the clinical setting and adjunctive periodontal therapies. This course will look at periodontal surgical procedures and referral protocols aswell as recent innovations in the study and management of periodontal diseases.
