Gas Technician – evenings and weekends

Registration for Fall 2023 opens on July 10, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. 

The Evening Gas Technician courses include code requirements, propane fundamentals, system testing, and troubleshooting. The core curriculum is standardized and accredited by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA), the industry’s regulatory body. Participants can challenge the TSSA for a Gas Technician 3 or Gas Technician 2 license upon completion. Delivered evenings and weekends, these courses offer students the flexibility to learn while working.

Durham College also offers two day-time certificate programs for those interested in full-time offerings.

Evening & Weekend Gas Technician 2

Want to get closer to an independent career in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration? Perhaps you want to be the one to call the shots on a job site? The Gas Technician 2 program will give you additional knowledge in code requirements, propane fundamentals, system testing, and troubleshooting to challenge the Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) for a license that will get you one step closer to a rewarding career. In this course, you will gain the knowledge to work without supervision on appliances rated up to 400,000 BTUs.

Prerequisites (one of the following):

  • Proof of Completed Gas Technician 3 Course at Durham College
  • Proof of a valid Gas Technician 3 License at the time of registration

Evening & Weekend Gas Technician 3

If you want to work in the propane and natural gas industry, this course will help you attain the knowledge you need to obtain your Gas Technician 3 license. Topics include safety, gas fundamentals, codes and regulations, and an introduction to piping and tubing systems and gas appliances. Individuals with a G3 certification can work under the supervision of a licensed Gas Technician 2 or 1.

Prerequisite: 19 years of age or Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)

How to Register for Gas Technician 3:

  • Registration opens on December 4 at 8:30 a.m.
  • Call 905.721.3000 to register and provide credit card payment for registration fees due at the time of registration.

The CRA (Canadian Revenue Agency) requires you to provide your SIN (Social Insurance Number) for your T2202 tax form. GT3 students need to provide it on the phone when registering.
