Temporary Bookstore Positions

The Durham College Bookstore is looking to fill the following positions:

The successful incumbents will work at a rate of $11.50 per hour.  Please note that shifts will vary and include evenings.  If needed, nominal Parking rates apply.  

Cashiers (6 positions, total)

The successful incumbent will be responsible for ringing in sales and assisting customers.  The incumbent will work 35 hours per week from Dec. 15-19, and either Jan 5th- 29th  The successful candidates must have previous cash experience in a retail environment.

Cashiers (1 positions, total)

The successful incumbent will be responsible for ringing in sales and assisting customers.  The incumbent will work 35 hours per week from Jan 4th – Jan 22nd, at the downtown Oshawa location.   The successful candidates must have previous cash experience in a retail environment.

Customer Service (2 positions)

The successful incumbent will be responsible for assisting customers.  The incumbent will work 35 hours per week from Dec. 14th – 18th, and then Jan 4th-29th  The successful candidates must have previous customer service experience in a retail environment.

E-Commerce (2 positions)

The successful incumbent will be responsible for assisting with processing and shipping ecommerce orders generated through the Bookstore E-Commerce site.  The incumbent will work 35 hours per week from Jan 4th – 29th.  The successful candidates must have previous experience in a retail environment.

Stock Person (1 position)

The successful incumbent will be responsible for keeping the Oshawa Bookstore stocked, with clothing, gifts and supplies.  The incumbent will work 35 hours per week from Dec 4th – 18th, and then Jan 4th – 29th.  The successful candidates must have previous experience in a retail environment.

Bi-Lingual Automotive Service Department Training Professional

Bi-lingual Automotive Service Department Training Professional

Durham College Corporate Training Services is seeking an automotive training professional to provide Service department training and coaching for an automotive client. This successful candidate will be a passionate presenter with the ability to engage an audience and accommodate various learning styles.

Duties

  • Conduct high-energy training sessions using various learning aids to raise the level of product and service process knowledge at the dealership level
  • Provide coaching to dealership managers to support the implementation of Service Department policies and procedures
  • Develop training manuals in support of process implementation
  • Communicate ideas/concepts in a clear, concise manner to encourage participation during training sessions and engagement during coaching
  • Act as host/presenter for the taping of training videos and virtual classroom presentations
  • Travel across Canada on an ongoing basis

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold the following minimum qualifications:

  1. Fluent in English and French (written and spoken)
  2. 5 years of experience working with automotive dealership Service Departments
  3. Firm grasp on the Automotive retail culture
  4. Firm understanding of the products and services sold in a dealership service department
  5. Above-average verbal and written communication skills in English and French
  6. Above average presentation skills that can bring energy to a classroom
  7. Proficiency in using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  8. Current knowledge on the developments in the Canadian car and light duty truck market, including automotive technological advancements.
  9. Prior training/instructor experience an asset
  10. College/University degree an asset
