Donors play a pivotal role in facilitating access to education by offering bursaries and scholarships. Bursaries help to remove barriers to education for students with a financial need, while scholarships recognize and celebrate a student’s academic achievements.

Each year I see the direct impact donor-funded bursaries have on students. It is a powerful message that they’re not alone in their journey; there is a community of people in their corner, supporting them to be successful in the classroom and in life.

Contribution options

Named student awards at DC recognize the donor’s generous support in the name of the award and the award is listed on our website and in our annual Donor Impact Report. We are pleased to recognize donors who contribute $5,000 or more by naming the bursary, scholarship or award in their honour. A full list can be found in the Donor Awards webpage.

Contributions of any amount go a long way in helping students achieve their academic and career goals. Donations under $5,000 will contribute to the college’s general scholarship and bursaries funds.

EXPENDABLE

An expendable student award is for immediate use. The funds are used until they are depleted. There is a minimum commitment of $5,000 to establish an expendable student award, which can be spread out over five years. Payments are due by June 1 in order to be included in the following school year’s disbursement.

ENDOWED

For an endowed student award, the donation is invested and a portion of the annual income is paid out each year as the student award, in perpetuity. The minimum commitment to establish an endowed student award is $25,000. The first student award is distributed one year after the funds are invested.
