Join us as Durham College President Don Lovisa and Global Class Professor Lon Appleby speak with graduates, Judy Pal, Communications Training Consultant for Public Safety and Nicole Blackman, Health and Social Services Manager at Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

Stephanie Ball, Executive Dean, School of Justice & Emergency Services/Interdisciplinary Studies and Allison Hector-Alexander, Director of the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion will join the conversation on Exploring Racial Disparities in Healthcare and Law Enforcement.

DC Alumni Profiles

Judy Pal, ’83 Sports & Entertainment, is a sought-after conference speaker, consultant and instructor with a demonstrated history of working with law enforcement and public safety focusing on crisis communications, media relations, digital media and all things internal communications. She is a strong consulting professional with clients ranging from large to small including NYPD, FBI-LEEDA, Baltimore and numerous other police organizations in major U.S. cities. 

 

Dr. Nicole Blackman, ’04 Nursing, is building a career with a focus on Indigenous health care. As a proud member of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation, she is extremely passionate about Indigenous health and is working towards addressing health issues at the local, regional and provincial levels. She strives to use her education, experiences and knowledge to work towards building awareness of the history of the Indigenous population and how that history impacts the population’s health today.
