DRT has moved to the PRESTO UPASS, a new digital transit pass for full-time students. This digital transit pass is replacing the PRESTO eTickets App and works with Apple and Google Wallet, letting you tap your phone or PRESTO card for easy access to DRT buses and terminals.

ATTENTION: Phones purchased outside of North America OR phones that do NOT have NFC (paying with tap) will not work with the new Presto digital card system. Please see the drop-down menu below for instructions on how to obtain your UPASS if this is the case.

  • The UPASS program provides students with unlimited travel each semester on Durham Region Transit (DRT). A DRT UPASS is available to student registered in a full-time post-secondary program.
  • UPASS does not have an opt out option as all full-time students pay ancillary fees to enable access to services at a lower cost than would be possible on an individual basis.
  • UPASS will be available based on the term that you have registered for:
    • Fall: September 1 to December 31
    • Winter: January 1 to April 30
    • Spring/Summer: May 1 to August 31
  • Presto Student perks Student U-Pass & Voucher FAQs | PRESTO
  • You are required to tap your device with your UPASS in your digital wallet each time you board DRT
  • Your voucher code can only be redeemed once. If you redeem it on the digital card, you cannot redeem it on a physical card and vice versa
  • You will receive an email to your @dcmail.ca email address each semester with your UPASS voucher code
  • Please see the drop-down menu below if you do not have NFC or if you don’t have a mobile device.
