Consent Awareness Week

Durham College observes Consent Awareness Week annually during the third week of September. This week highlights the importance of understanding and practicing consent, defined as a mutual, voluntary, and ongoing agreement to engage in sexual activity.  

Research shows that the first six weeks of the academic year see a rise in reports of sexual violence among post-secondary students. Consent Awareness Week serves as a reminder that everyone has the right to feel safe and be free from violence. 

All sexual activity without consent is a criminal offence. Let’s work together to foster a respectful, informed, and campus community.
