Overview of pathways available for Durham College Students

Graduates of an Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Biotechnology may be eligible to apply to the University of Guelph’s Bachelor of Science program with one of four possible majors. Prospective applicants must have a minimum cumulative average of 75% (B), and must also have successfully completed 4U Advanced Functions (or an approved equivalent). Successful applicants will receive up to 10.0 transfer credits through this Pathway.

Graduates of a Computer Programmer Analyst or Software Engineering Technology Ontario College Advanced Diploma may be eligible to apply the University of Guelph’s Bachelor of Computing in either the General stream or with a major in Computer Science. Prospective applicants must have a minimum cumulative average of 75% (B), as well as successfully completed MCV4U Calculus and Vectors (or an approved equivalent). Successful applicants will receive up to 10.0 transfer credits through this Pathway.

Graduates of an Ontario College Diploma in Early Childhood Education may be eligible to apply for admission to the Bachelor of Applied Science in Child Studies at the University of Guelph. To be eligible for admission consideration, applicants must have completed their diploma with a minimum cumulative average of 75% (B). They must also present both a 4U Biology credit and a 4U mathematics credit, or approved equivalents. Applicants must have not less than ten academic courses (exclusive of field-placement courses) with a final grade of 85% (A). Successful applicants will receive up to 10.0 transfer credits through this pathway.

Graduates of a Hotel and Restaurant Management 2-year diploma, a Food and Beverage Management 2-year diploma, or a Tourism and Travel 2-year diploma may be eligible to apply the University of Guelph’s Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Prospective applicants must have a minimum cumulative average of 75% (B), as well as successfully completed MHF4U Advanced Functions (or an approved equivalent). Successful applicants will receive up to 10.0 transfer credits through this Pathway.

Students of both certificates and diplomas in General Arts and Science (GAS) at community colleges and Indigenous Institutes in Ontario are eligible to apply for admission to the Bachelor of Arts at the University of Guelph. Applicants need to have graduated from a GAS program, having passed all courses with a minimum cumulative average of 70% including a minimum grade of 70% in each of the courses eligible for transfer.

General Transfer Policy

If you are not admitted under an articulation/pathway agreement, then you’ll be considered for transfer credit under our general transfer credit policy. Normally, applicants who have completed a two-year college diploma can receive up to 5.0 credits, while applicants who have completed a three-year college diploma program can receive up to 10.0 credits. In this case, your transfer credit will be assessed at the time of your admission and cannot be pre-assessed by the Admissions team.
