Objective

DC is engaged in an intensive and transparent process to develop a comprehensive, forward-thinking strategic plan for DC that builds on the successes of the 2020-2025 Strategic Plan and positions the college to achieve greater heights. The new Strategic Plan will define the college's mission, vision, and values, along with clear goals and objectives.

The project will involve completing an environmental scan, conducting thorough internal and external consultations, data analysis, ensuring transparent and timely communication throughout the process, and then developing a plan for the Board’s approval, resulting in an official launch in spring 2025.

Guiding Principles

The following guiding principles will be used to provide a structured and coherent framework that ensures consistency, alignment, and clarity throughout the Strategic Plan development process.

  • Key Contributor Engagement

    Gather diverse perspectives and foster buy-in through meaningful engagement of internal and external key contributors, including all of you – our students, faculty, staff, governors, alumni, donors, government and community partners, using focused discussions, interviews and surveys.

  • ALIGNMENT WITH COLLEGE PRIORITIES

    Ensure that the new strategic plan goals and objectives align with DC’s broader vision of being sustainable, future-proof, people-focused, equity-driven, and community-connected.

  • DATA-DRIVEN DECISION MAKING

    Use quantitative and qualitative data to inform decisions, ensuring strategies are based on evidence and analysis.

  • FLEXIBILITY AND ADAPTABILITY

    Design the plan to be flexible, allowing the college to adjust in response to changing circumstances and emerging opportunities.

  • TRANSPARENCY AND COMMUNICATION

    Maintain open lines of two-way communication throughout the process.

  • INCLUSIVITY AND EQUITY

    Ensure the development process and the resulting plan promote and address equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging and include a focus on Indigeneity across all aspects of the institution.

  • INNOVATION AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

    Encourage the adoption of innovative approaches and technology alongside continuous improvement to stay ahead of trends and enhance institutional effectiveness.
