Promise Lafrance grew up around design and construction. It is definitely in her blood since her father is Canada’s outdoor renovation guru, Paul Lafrance.

Promise often accompanied her dad to speaking engagements all over Canada and at one Skills event, she was able to try welding. She knew she had found her calling when she put the welders’ helmet on for the first time; she felt focused.

Promise utilized the dual credit program in high school and it led her to the welding diploma at Georgian College. She graduated in April 2020.

Promise continues to educate herself in the trades and she is a strong advocate for women in the skilled trades. She speaks to elementary, high school, and college students across Canada. She sees a career in the trades as a solid plan for the future and one that will allow her to work anywhere she chooses!

Promise recently started working at a lighting design firm, where she will put her welding skills to the test creating one of a kind designs. She feels like she has landed her dream job.
